The management team of Sikhs Serving Canada, and the Seva Food Bank, are dedicated professionals with a love of Sikhi and a desire to serve our community.

Amarpreet Kaur Ahluwalia
Amarpreet is a Diabetes Nurse Educator with the South Riverdale Community Health centre, in downtown Toronto. In this role, Amarpreet works mostly with new Canadians on learning about Diabetes, and how to prevent, treat or manage their disease. Amarpreet is a clinical instructor with Seneca College, instructing nursing students on practical, patient-centred care in a hospital setting. Amarpreet is also on the Board of Directors of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, representing the voice of nurses in Region 6, the largest region in the province. Her focus in this position is on patient advocacy, and food security issues.

Amarpreet is the co-chair of the Real Estate and Operations committee for Sikhs Serving Canada. Her focus is on creating best practices for managing the facility and dealing with clients, as well as developing programing that will teach clients about healthy eating as well as educating donors about nutritious, culturally-appropriate foods to donate.

Gurmeet Singh Ahluwalia
Gurmeet is the head of the Securities and Fund Services Product team for Citi in Canada, and is the President of Citi Trust Company Canada, a federally-regulated financial institution. Before coming back to Canada, Gurmeet was the head of the global GTS strategy team in New York. Gurmeet is the chair of Citi’s Mississauga facility’s United Way Campaign, which raised over $50,000 and won recognition as the top employee campaign in the Peel Region. Gurmeet holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a BA from the University of Alberta.

Gurmeet’s role with Sikhs Serving Canada is as Chair of the Board, and co-chair of the Real Estate and Operations committee. His main focus has been on liasing with The Mississauga Food Bank, and establishing the facility that will house the Seva Food Bank.

Sundeep Singh Bhatia
Sundeep is a Finance Manager with Manulife Financial in Toronto. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and completed his Certified General Accounting (CGA) designation in 2008. Sundeep has spent time working in various industries over the past decade including IT (SAP Canada), Telecom (Bell Canada), and Financial Services (Manulife Financial). In recent years, Sundeep has spent time volunteering with Junior Achievement as well as being part of the Manulife Spirit of Giving Committee which awards $25,000 annually to multiple charities across the GTA.

Sundeep is the Treasurer and a member of the Finance Committee. His main responsibilities include preparing financial statements, annual budgets, and managing the day to day financial activities of the organization.

Michael Brito
Michael brings over 10 years of experience in working with individuals and communities experiencing poverty. His prior work has included coordinating youth programs in southwest Scarborough as well as in the former city of York. He has also worked extensively with homeless youth and adults across Toronto, providing services and delivering programs with a focus on harm reduction. Most recently, he worked as a Hepatitis C Educator, delivering workshops and training to service providers and people living with Hepatitis C. He approaches his work with compassion and a commitment to social justice.

Michael Brito works as the Seva Food Bank’s part-time Operations Manager. Michael has responsibility for supervising our daily operations. This includes oversight of the front reception area, client-intake process as well as food delivery, sorting, storage, and distribution.

Birender Kaur Gill
Birender K. Gill obtained her bachelor of commerce degree at the University of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada. She completed her Chartered Accountant designation in April 2002 while working with Deloitte & Touche LLP. In her 11 years of employment with Deloitte & Touche, Birender specialized in serving clients in the public sector (Provincial ministries, crown corporations, municipalities, hospitals, and not for profit organizations). Birender was responsible for performing financial audits, developing risk management programs, and conducting internal audits. In addition to her employment, Birender has a passion for community involvement.

Birender served for 4 years as the Treasurer of the Spinning Wheel Film Festival, an organization that she helped establish to showcase films showing the Sikh experience. Birender has been a facilitator and key organizer of leadership retreats for youth in the GTA since 2003. Birender has also served as a Grant Committee Judge for the Ontario Arts Council in their grant distribution for Visual Art Organizations. Birender is also currently serving as the Finance Director for the Sikh Arts Council (Canada), a new organization raising awareness and providing art education.

Birender’s a member of the Board of Directors of Sikhs Serving Canada, and currently serves as the chair of the Finance and Administration committee. She is responsible for all filings with governmental authorities, as well as managing the finances of the organization.

Kulvir Singh Gill
Kulvir Singh Gill was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He graduated from the University of Calgary with degrees in biology and commerce. After working for a top-tier management consulting firm and a major gold mining company, he has recently launched his own independent management consulting and coaching firm. In addition to his career, Kulvir has been actively involved in his local Sikh-Canadian community. He has served in leadership roles with the Sikh Centennial Foundation, Spinning Wheel Film Festival, and Toronto Sikh Youth Retreats. Kulvir serves on the Board of Directors for the William Osler Health System Foundation and Habitat For Humanity – Brampton. He is also a recipient of the 2010/11 Action Canada fellowship.

Kulvir chairs the Public Relations & Marketing committee for Seva Food Bank.

Amritpal Singh Gosal
Amritpal Singh Gosal is a Program Manager at Linamar. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining Engineering and an Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. Amritpal is also currently completing an MBA part-time with Wilfrid Laurier University. Amritpal and his wife, Manpreet Kaur have been volunteer teachers with the local Punjabi and Gurmat school in Guelph. Currently, they are co-chairing the fundraising committee with Sikhs Serving Canada, responsible for creating the fundraising campaign plan, calling list, and overall fundraising strategy for the organization. Amritpal is also chairing the construction committee tasked with designing and building out our vision for the current food bank location.

Manpreet Kaur Gosal
Manpreet Kaur Gosal is a Computer Engineer by profession, and works as a Software Developer at Research in Motion in Waterloo, Ontario. In her personal time she has volunteered in her community as a Punjabi and Gurmat school teacher with the International Languages Program and Gurdwara in Guelph, and also has volunteered to help organize Sikh retreats and workshops in the Toronto area. Manpreet is a member of the Board of Directors for Sikhs Serving Canada, and is the co-chair of the fundraising committee.

Inderpreet Kaur Mudhar
Inderpreet Kaur Mudhar graduated from Ryerson University with a B comm. in IT Management in 2008. She is currently working as a Microsoft Sales & General Sales Operations Analyst. Inderpreet has been active in the community; from being a part of the Student Together Opposing Prejudice committee in high school to being a board member of the Women in Information Technology Management, Inderpreet has had the opportunity to organize events such as culture shows to networking events with industry professionals.

Inderpreet attends all Board Meetings of Sikhs Serving Canada as the secretary of the organization. Inderpreet currently manages volunteer coordination and is directing all project related tasks for the Seva Food Bank.

Manraj Singh Pannu
Manraj S. Pannu is a graduate of the Queen’s University Electrical Engineering program and has been working as an Applications and Project Engineer for the past two years. Manraj is an active member of his community where he has worked on various youth leadership initiatives with the City of Pickering and tutors first and second year university students. Manraj is an organizer for the annual Toronto Sikh Retreat. In his off time, Manraj is learning and teaching the art of Gurmat Sangeet.

Manraj is a member of the Board of Directors of Sikhs Serving Canada, and is responsible for client management. His current initiative is creating a database that can be used to track and manage clients and their needs.

Gosha  Sekhon
Gosha Sekhon is a lawyer with experience in Estates and Trusts, Real Estate and Corporate/Commercial law. She is currently working in the Wealth Management division of a major financial institution. Gosha was heavily involved in the not-for-profit sector in Calgary before moving to Ontario. Her involvement included work with the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter and the Calgary Counseling Centre.

Gosha is a member of the Board of Directors for Sikhs Serving Canada. Her role centers on providing feedback on potential legal liability issues and assisting in the research and preparation for various grant applications.
