For the past six years, with the support of thousands of listeners, the producers of CJMR 1320 AM radio station alongside Seva Food Bank have hosted the Guru Nanak Radiothon & Food Drive event to fight hunger in our local community.
This year’s Radiothon will run on Friday November 3rd, 2017 (9 am to 12 midnight) and then again on Sunday November 5th, 2017 (1 pm to 5:30 pm). We encourage supporters to call into any of the Punjabi shows and make their pledge on the air.
On Saturday November 4th, 2017 (10 am–6 pm) Seva’s Annual Food Drive will be held at local Gurdwaras and South Asian grocery stores across the GTA.
Seva or Selfless Service is one of the most important values of Sikhism. It is the value that forms the very foundation of Seva Food Bank. The entire team, the staff and volunteers – passionately live this value. They understand that each of us has a responsibility to serve with humility, compassion, and gratitude. Funded solely by generous donations from the community and government grants, Seva Food Bank is in essence simply people serving people.
Radio Host Kuldip Deepak: “As we celebrate the birthday of Guru Nanak, we really wanted to find a way to put Guru Nanak’s message of equality, social justice and service into practice. The Seva Food Bank is doing just that with its commitment to seva, selfless service, and sarbat da bhalla, the well-being of all humanity.”
Board Vice-Chair Angie Rehal: “This incredible weekend will make a direct positive impact on the lives of our client families. The food and funds collected allow us to not only feed more people but also tackle the issues of food security, hunger and poverty in our community.”
We thank you for your donations and the support you continue to provide.
