Guidelines:
- Only donate items that you would eat
- Check that items are not older than their “Best Before” date
- Make sure all items are unopened. Open boxes are accepted if all internal packaging is still intact and unopened
- Think protein – Think nutrition – Think DIVERSITY
Most Needed Items:
- Grains – Rice, wheat, corn, barley, oatmeal, bulgar, oats, quinoa, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, string hoppers, dosa mix, whole wheat flour, taco shells (ideally boxed)
- Canned fish (i.e. sardines, tuna) and meat including corn beef, chicken and other non pork products
- Canned beans - dried beans, chickpeas, romano, baked, kidney and lentils
- Cereals – Fibre 1, All Bran Cereal, All Bran Buds, Plain Cheerios, Multigrain
- Cooking oil – Canola Oil, Olive Oil
- Canned fruit packed in juice and water instead of syrup
- Canned vegetables – Green beans, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, water chestnuts, cabbage, sweet potato, carrots, corn
- Fruit juice – 100% juice
- Warm beverages – Chocoloate milk and instant coffee
- Nut butters – Peanut butter, Almond butter
- Unsalted nuts – Peanuts, almonds, pecans, cashews (all unsalted)
- Healthy snacks – Low fat popcorn, pretzels, low fat granola bars or cereal bars, sugar free jello, soda crackers, rice crackers, cookies (arrowroot, digestive, oatmeal)
- Baby products – formula, infant cereals, baby food, diapers
- Milk products – Milk powder, canned milk, coconut milk
- Soup – dry or canned
- Spices and seasonings – i.e. turmeric, mustard seeds, chilli powder, canned curry or Thai paste
- Personal and household products - toiletries, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and laundry detergent
