Volunteer of the Month: May 2015: Dorothy

Dorothy pictureAt Seva, we deeply value all of the time and energy our team of dedicated volunteers offer week in and week out. Many of these volunteers have personal goals of their own that they hope to achieve through helping individuals within their municipality. For some of us, giving back results in self actualization which in and of itself, is a true blessing in disguise. Jim Carrey once quoted “The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.” This month, Dorothy Nurse has exemplified this mantra. Retirement has not stopped Dorothy from being on the go. With just a few months under her belt, Dorothy has had a significant impact on how the warehouse functions by always lending a helping hand to anyone and everyone. Be it reception or personal shopping, Dorothy’s charm and warmth have made client visitations a pleasant experience. Thank you for all that you do Dorothy and Congratulations on being nominated for the Volunteer of the Month!

“Its been awesome getting involved with volunteering at the Seva Food Bank, little did I know how rewarding this would be to be able to give back to my community and to do a fraction of the work that God commissioned us to do. I just want to thank Seva for giving me the opportunity.”
