Client Programs Coordinator

 

Seva Food Bank is seeking an experienced leader to serve as our Client Programs Coordinator. As head of client programming you will lead development and successful management of all our programs according to the strategic direction set by the Executive Director, who in turn reports to the Board of Directors. Seva is a young, dynamic organization with a team to committed continuous growth, innovation, impact and community building. We provide safe, nutritious and culturally-appropriate food to low-income families of all backgrounds living in Mississauga. In this leadership position, you will play a crucial role in the success of Seva Food Bank by creatively leveraging partnerships and resources to create and deliver highly impactful programs. Responsibilities

This position’s purpose is to create, coordinate, implement and grow impactful program services for our clients in line with Seva’s strategic goals. You will be:

  • Developing new client programming that helps achieve Seva’s strategic goals.
  • Managing existing client serving programs, in alignment of Seva’s strategic goals.
  • Actively contributing to a supportive and inclusive team that works together efficiently, effectively and respectfully.
  • Managing a program budget and submitting regular program reports. Monitoring program costs and expenses and reporting to ED on any variances and exemption requests.
  • Conducting research, monitoring and evaluation of client programming.
  • Representing Seva Food Bank at community councils and committees where relevant and appropriate.
  • Marketing and promoting programs to relevant partners and communities, especially new or specialized programs.
  • Creating new partnerships (e.g. by actively developing and cultivating relationships with local service providers) and growing and strengthening existing relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Overseeing, mentoring and managing 1-2 individuals on staff.
  • Supervising and mentoring social services practicum students and summer job students.
  • Developing recommendations on structures and procedures to better support client programming.
  • Staying informed about issues and trends related to food security, poverty, policy etc. that may affect our network and client base.
  • Assisting fundraising activities with grant writing, foundation proposals and fundraisers as needed. Preparing reports as required by funding agencies.
  • Assisting marketing and communications activities by providing programing information needed for different reports and materials (i.e. Annual Report, brochures, newsletters etc.)
  • Liaising with all levels of volunteers as required.
  • Serving as board liaison for all client programming activities.
  • Supporting food bank activities, including client shift, deliveries and volunteer days as required.
  • Operating at both our Wolfedale and Malton locations (given the hours of our client serving shifts), and will require flexible work hours on weekdays and occasional weekends.

    Qualifications:

  • University or college education in social sciences or related field, or equivalent education, training and/or professional experience.
  • 3 years experience designing and facilitating social services programming is required. Experience working with programs that serve low-income individuals is ideal.
  • 1-3 years experience managing staff or volunteers in a not-for-profit setting.
  • Demonstrated success in partnership development and community outreach.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting research, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience engaging and supervising volunteers.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience managing program budgets.
  • Knowledge of food security and poverty issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in fast-paced, not-for-profit environment.
  • Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion and sensitivity for undeserved populations.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to work flexible hours and some weekend work is required.
  • Must hold a valid Ontario driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
  • Familiarity with the city of Mississauga is an asset.
  • Food Handlers Certificate and CPR training is an asset.
  • Experience completing grant applications is an asset.
  • Ability to speak several languages is an asset.
