Our priority is to keep everyone in our Seva family safe and healthy. This includes our food bank clients, donors, volunteers, staff and partners. Our goal is to ensure that we can continue to serve our food bank clients in alignment with our Seva values. No one should go hungry during this major public health concern.

Note: If it is your first time or if you need an emergency hamper you can just walk in anytime during our hours of operation for an intake and/or emergency hamper of 7-10 days worth of food.

The Seva Food Bank team works to ensure that clients have a supportive and welcoming environment at both our Wolfedale and Malton locations.

FAQ
  • What should I do if I am visiting the food bank for the first time or if I need an emergency hamper?
    You can walk in anytime between 4pm-7:30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, or from 11am-2pm on Fridays. Our team will be available to assist you with intake and provide an emergency hamper consisting of 7-10 days worth of food.
  • What happens when I arrive?
    To add a new question go to app settings and press "Manage Questions" button. On your first visit to the food bank, you will be asked to fill out an intake form, and share information about your situation including family members, income, and expenses.Identification and proof of address for all household members is required on your first visit. Documents should also be presented on a yearly basis.
  • What is the difference between the two locations?
    There is no difference between the two locations. They provide the same programs and services and are even staffed by the same team of people.
  • What if I am outside of the service area?
    On your first visit to one of our food bank locations, you should never be denied food; however if you live outside our catchment area, you will be given a referral to the food bank that serves you.
  • Do you share my information with anyone?
    Personal information is always kept confidential, and is used to better understand our client’s circumstances, and to advocate on their behalf. Personal information is not shared with other organizations outside of Seva Food Bank’s network or with the government, including Ontario Works or Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
  • How much food will I get?
    Seva Food Bank provides a 7-10 days’ worth of food, once per month, to individuals and families who live in our Mississauga catchment area: Malton – 2832 Slough St (L4V, L5S, L4T, L5T, L5P) Wolfedale – Unit 10-3413 Wolfedale Rd (L5B, L5C)

Other Programs & Services 

In addition to a food bank, both the Malton and Wolfedale locations provide the following programs and services. 

Settlement Services:

is a program for anyone who is new to the country and needs help access resources that will help with their assimilation in Canada. We have partnerships with various agencies who come to our locations for the settlement program. Languages supported: English, Arabic, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu.
 

Navigation Program:

This program is available for all of our clients who need help navigating resources and programs that will help better their quality of life.
 

Healthy Living Workshops:

Our workshops are facilitated by a Registered Dietitian and Registered Nurse from Four Corners who teach our clients about diabetes, nutrition and better health through cooking demonstrations, presentations, and health check-ins. Topics vary by month.
 

Dental Screenings:

Dental hygienists from the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene provide free oral health screenings to individuals and families and offer referrals for cost-effective treatment. Remember-regular and early dental care is important to maintain dental and overall health.
 

Tax Clinic:

In collaboration with volunteer accountants from CRA, Seva Food Bank clients are able to have their tax returns prepared right on-site.
