The Seva Food Bank is requesting nominations for the first cohort of Seva Fellows, a group of exceptional young people selected from the Peel Region for an intensive five-month leadership development program. The purpose of the Seva Fellowship is to bring together the diverse talents of these extraordinary people to connect, collaborate and demonstrate what is possible when working together in a diverse community.
The Seva Fellows will first create volunteer partnerships with existing, mainstream and faith-based organizations and then create their own volunteer engagement initiatives. The fellows will have ongoing leadership training, meet leaders from across different sectors and get access to mentorship opportunities.
Letters of recommendation should clearly describe how candidates meet the following selection criteria:
• Initiative
• Motivation
• Drive
• Imagination
• Demonstrated communication skills
• Commitment to volunteerism
• Commitment to dialogue and openness to other diverse faiths, cultures and backgrounds
• A strong desire to effect change and build a more inclusive Canada
• Academic excellence
Nominations for the 2013 Seva Fellowship are accepted from until 28 February 2013.
Selection Committee interviews of shortlisted candidates will be held in Mississauga on March 9, 2013.
