Rasheeda Qureshi Is Our New Executive Director

Seva Food Bank Announces Rasheeda Qureshi As New Executive Director

The Seva Food Bank is proud to announce that Rasheeda Qureshi has joined the organization as the new Executive Director. As a passionate and accomplished leader with strong for-profit and not-for-profit leadership experience, Rasheeda will lead the organization’s next stage of growth. She comes to Seva from the United Way Toronto & York Region where she lead a team managing corporate donor relations for partnerships with financial institutions.

“I’m delighted to join the Seva family” said Rasheeda. “This is a grassroots organization that makes a major impact in the lives of its many clients. Ensuring that nobody goes hungry in our community is an important mandate, but I’m even more excited by Seva’s desire to address the root causes and consequences of food insecurity.”

“We’re very excited to have Rasheeda on the team,” commented Seva’s Vice-Chair, Angie Rehal. “She will bring a warm and collaborative approach to Seva combined with deep experience in fundraising and leading cross-functional teams.”

Rasheeda will lead a team of five staff members, dozens of internship students and hundreds of volunteers. She will assume the Executive Director responsibilities from Kulvir Singh Gill who has served an interim volunteer capacity. Kulvir will continue on as Board Chair.

The Seva Food Bank provides safe, nutritious and culturally-appropriate food to over 900 low- income families of all backgrounds living in Mississauga each month. An initiative of Sikhs Serving Canada, a registered charity, our mission is to positively impact our local communities by acting on the basic Sikh tenets of sarbat da bhalla (the well-being of all) and seva (selfless service).
